In Morey-Saint-Denis, Stéphane Magnien works with attentiveness and care, shaping wines that highlight subtlety over showiness. His vineyard practices aim for natural balance, and his gentle cellar work keeps the fruit at the forefront.
The style is refined and quietly aromatic, with fine tannins and a lovely sense of lift. Each cuvée shows purity and composure, capturing the understated charm that defines Morey. These are graceful, nuanced Burgundies that reward attention and reflect the thoughtful hand behind them.
The Magnien family have quietly farmed vineyards in Morey Saint Denis for several generations, their work better known to local merchants than to drinkers further afield. Over the twentieth century the family parcels in Morey and neighbouring Chambolle were gradually consolidated into a more clearly defined estate. When Stéphane took over in the early 2000s, he began to nudge the style towards a lighter, more transparent expression, refining both the farming and the winemaking without abandoning the domaine’s essentially traditional core. His tenure feels like a gentle turning of the dial, bringing fresh nuance to a long-established family story.
