Our trading and broking service provides an expert, reliable solution – whether sourcing rare bottles or selling wines from an existing collection. We are proud partners of Liv-ex, the world’s leading fine wine trading exchange. This professional platform offers real-time bid and offer prices on thousands of wines, giving our clients global reach when selling.
As a trade-only exchange with over 600 members worldwide, Liv-ex ensures your wine is exposed to a network of serious, qualified buyers. Liv-ex also advises that the rates available through its platform are among the most competitive private options available, meaning clients benefit from both fair pricing and informed decision-making when choosing to sell.
As the foremost fine wine market resource globally, the Liv-ex exchange provides accurate retail pricing in the form of the “Liv-ex Market Price”. This level takes into account the most competitive prices for a particular wine and vintage from over 600 global merchants, updated automatically whenever new pricing data appears. The “Liv-ex market Price” acts as Farthinghoe’s benchmark onward selling price and provides the anchor-point for our broking valuations and ongoing broking support.
As part of Farthinghoe’s expansion of Fine Wine trading activities, we now offer two broking commission options each lending different visibility. These commissions are detailed in our FAQs, detailed below.
If you would like to discuss the broking process further, please contact the team here or email [email protected].
The Liv-ex system provides real-time bid and offer prices for your wine, helping to establish a clear, current market value.
Through a bespoke service created for Farthinghoe, Liv-ex also provides the last traded price and date, giving our clients greater insight when deciding whether to sell.
Wines submitted for sale are included in our broking list, which is circulated to clients worldwide and made available to purchase directly through our website.
Once instructions are received and prices agreed, Octavian will inspect and confirm the condition of each case to ensure it meets Liv-ex trading standards.
The stock is then listed on the Liv-ex exchange and added to our broking list, which we manage on your behalf.
Progress updates are available upon request.
Farthinghoe offers two Broking routes, each offering slightly different market reach. Ultimately, once the cases trade, we raise a purchase order to you minus the applicable trading margin, which are as follows:
1. Listing on our website and Wine-Searcher at retail prices for a 10% commission.
2. Listing on the above with our Expedite service to include the Liv-Ex platform for a 15% commission + £19.95 (transfer and Liv-Ex settlement fee).
Once the above deductions have been made, the net proceeds are credited to your Farthinghoe account. A separate invoice will be issued to cover part-year rental charges (plus VAT), which is deducted from the sale proceeds.
After any outstanding balance has been cleared, funds are available on request after 30 days.
The broadest reach available for your Broking wines. This ensures maximum visibility and access to Liv-Ex’s 600+ global members while continuing to benefit from our new Wine-Searcher integration.
Beyond the listing reach offered by our standard 10% commission option, wines submitted for sale through our Expedite Service are also included in our broking list and Wine Searcher together, but with the added benefit of live-listing via the Liv-ex exchange. This means the greatest market visibility is achieved. Selecting this option lends the greatest opportunity for a successful trade in the shortest time possible.
Once instructions are received and prices agreed, Octavian will inspect and confirm the condition of each case to ensure it meets Liv-ex trading standards. The stock is then listed on the Liv-ex exchange and added to our broking list, which we manage on your behalf.
Through a bespoke service created for Farthinghoe, Liv-ex also provides a range of data points for our storage clients including the last traded price and live-market price, giving our clients greater insight when deciding whether to sell. This information is available 24/7 though client’s own login areas on the Farthinghoe website
Progress updates are available upon request and please note that for large parcel commissions, special rates are potentially available via prior agreement.
