Domaine Jacques Carillon

Domaine Jacques CarillonBurgundy, France

Jacques Carillon’s Puligny-Montrachet wines reflect decades of intimate familiarity with some of the village’s most characterful slopes. His steady work in the vines and his sensitivity in the cellar allow Chardonnay to express itself with quiet eloquence.

The wines are finely etched and serene, revealing citrus brightness, chalky definition and a long, delicate finish. Carillon captures the essence of Puligny with an understated confidence that rewards patient appreciation.

The Carillon family have been intertwined with Puligny Montrachet since the sixteenth century, making them one of the village’s longest standing winegrowing dynasties. The modern contours of the domaine emerged in the twentieth century under Louis Carillon, whose careful work and well sited vineyards cemented the family’s reputation. When the estate was eventually divided between his sons Jacques and François, Jacques took on a selection of prime parcels and quietly set about expressing them in his own way. His domaine feels like a distillation of the family heritage, combining centuries of local knowledge with a calm, finely drawn interpretation of Puligny.
