Patrick Javillier has an instinctive touch with Meursault, balancing generosity and precision in a way that feels effortlessly assured. His attention to detail in both vineyard and cellar gives the wines a calm composure that defines the domaine’s identity.
The whites show breadth supported by a mineral backbone, revealing layers of flavour with graceful control. Javillier’s cuvées are dependable, polished and beautifully shaped, offering a thoughtful interpretation of Meursault.
The Javillier family’s history in Meursault goes back several generations, but it was in the mid twentieth century that the modern domaine began to take shape, as small holdings were gradually expanded and replanted. Patrick Javillier took charge in the 1970s and made thoughtful detail his calling card, paying close attention to the way each parcel behaved both in the vineyard and in the cellar. His careful, almost studious approach allowed him to bring out distinct personalities from what might otherwise have seemed modest sites. Over time he has built a reputation for purity and balance that feels very much earned rather than proclaimed.
