The 2020 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has a tightly wound tertiary bouquet with white asparagus and glade forest pool aromas. There is fine delineation, and after 10 minutes, there are hints of lemon thyme and broom. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, quite linear in style, and with a sapid, fresh finish. Again, it just lacks a bit of persistency, but otherwise, this is a satisfying Grand Cru that will meliorate in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
