Etienne Sauzet is a reference point for Puligny-Montrachet, where finesse and mineral definition guide every decision. The estate’s measured farming and gentle cellar influence allow Chardonnay’s purity to take centre stage.
The Sauzet whites are crystalline and refined, offering citrus brightness, fine texture and a long, composed finish. They capture the essence of Puligny with a whisper rather than a shout, delivering Burgundies that are subtle, harmonious and deeply satisfying. This is an estate for those who appreciate restraint, finesse and the quiet brilliance of great Chardonnay.
The Sauzet story begins in the early twentieth century, when Etienne Sauzet, who started his working life as a cooper, began to acquire vineyards in Puligny Montrachet. Over time he assembled an enviable set of parcels, many in the village’s most prized climats, and laid the groundwork for the domaine’s reputation. Later generations, including Etienne’s granddaughter and her husband Gérard Boudot, continued to shape the estate, gradually tightening both viticulture and winemaking. The baton then passed to Emilie and Benoît Riffault, who steered the vineyards towards organic farming and a more chisel led expression of Chardonnay. The result is a domaine that feels both deeply rooted and quietly refreshed.
