Alex Moreau has quickly become one of the most compelling winemakers in Chassagne-Montrachet, shaping wines that feel effortless yet deeply expressive. His vineyard work shows quiet precision, and in the cellar he focuses on gentle clarity, allowing each parcel to articulate its character with calm confidence.
The resulting wines balance richness with a beautiful sense of lift, revealing layers of citrus, stone fruit and chalky detail. Moreau’s touch brings poise to every cuvée, offering Burgundies that are graceful, transparent and quietly captivating. Alex Moreau is a name that defines contemporary Chassagne at its most refined.
The domaine itself dates all the way back to 1809, when a certain Auguste Moreau, Alex’s great, great grandfather, bought and farmed some vineyards in the village. Several generations passed until Marcel Moreau really began to crank things up and expanded the domaine quite significantly either side of the Second World War. His son and Alex’s father, Bernard, then took over in the 1960s and continued to evolve the domaine until passing the pipette on to Alex at the beginning of the new Millennium.
