The modern history of Domaine Denis Mortet began in the early 1990s, when Denis, building on vineyards tended by his father Charles, set up his own estate in Gevrey Chambertin. His meticulous work in the vines and polished winemaking style quickly drew attention, and within a few short years the domaine had become one of the village’s benchmark names. After Denis’s untimely passing in 2006, his son Arnaud stepped in and gradually nudged the wines toward a slightly more restrained and finely tuned expression. It is a story that combines drive and evolution, with a son honouring his father’s legacy while adding his own calm precision.
