When the Dream Becomes Real
Most people, at some point, dream of escape. Not dramatically perhaps, but quietly: a house somewhere warmer, long lunches, rows of vines disappearing into the distance, and a life measured less by emails and more by the weather. Usually the dream remains just that. Sally Evans, rather impressively, actually did it.
A few years ago, she left ordinary life behind, moved to Fronsac on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, and began making wine at Château George 7. Along the way she also wrote a best-selling book about the realities, romance and occasional chaos of trading certainty for vineyard life.

Bordeaux as it should be
We visited the château earlier this year and came away captivated not only by the quality of the wines, but by the atmosphere surrounding them: a fantastic lunch on the terrace overlooking the vines, bottles opened instinctively rather than ceremonially, and conversations drifting easily between vineyards, vintages and life in Bordeaux. It felt wonderfully authentic. These are proper Bordeaux wines, made for drinking and enjoying.
The estate lies in Saillans, in the heart of Fronsac, where clay-over-limestone soils have long produced some of Bordeaux’s most characterful Merlot. The 2025 vintage particularly favoured the Right Bank, with the clay soils retaining vital moisture through the hot, dry summer. We loved what we tasted and are delighted to offer Château George 7 2025 and OR de GeORge Royal Reserve 2025 as a Farthinghoe Fine Wine En Primeur exclusive.
