The 2019 Richebourg Grand Cru has a magnificent nose. Perfumed and utterly seductive, it emanates multi-layered black and red fruit, forest floor, hints of black truffle shavings and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with pure black fruit that disguises the serious structure behind this wine. Gentle but insistently grippy and suffused with mineralité, this fans out wonderfully on the extremely persistent finish. There is a little ostentation derived from the growing season, but the terroir keeps it all in check. Just a little alcoholic on the aftertaste? Très grand Grand Cru. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
